How to register a company online in Jordan: a step by step guide.

Now that most government services in Jordan have gone digital, registering a company has become far simpler than it used to be. Even so, some people still hesitate, worried about making a mistake during the process. This article explains how to register a company through the electronic system of Jordan's Companies Control Department (CCD).

It's worth noting that the registration steps vary depending on the type of company. This guide focuses on the general steps for registering a Limited Liability Company (LLC), since it's the most common company type and its steps largely apply to other company types as well — with the exception of public shareholding companies, along with a few particularities specific to certain other types, which are noted below.

Steps to Register a New Company in Jordan

First: Go to the CCD website via the following link: www.ccd.gov.jo

Second: Select "Electronic Services," then choose "Register a New Company."

Third: Create a new account and fill in the required information, then log in using your username and password.

Fourth: A list of available company types will appear — select the type you wish to register.

Fifth: Enter the required information, as follows:

1. Type of company to be registered: 

• Limited Liability Company (LLC)
• Foreign company (operating or non-operating)
• General partnership
• Simple (limited) partnership
• Private shareholding company
• Companies operating in free zones

2. Specify the company's objectives
3. Capital
4. Add the partners
5. Data related to the memorandum and articles of association
6. Attachments: Upload the documents required by the CCD, most importantly: the company's memorandum and internal articles of association, the lawyer's power of attorney, and a certificate of non-conviction (for Jordanian nationals)
7. Memorandum of Association
8. Decisions
9. Enter the authorized signatory's information for the electronic account
10. Save the request: Choose a name or trade address depending on the company type — general partnerships and simple partnerships require a trade address and may adopt a trade name, while LLCs and private shareholding companies must adopt a trade name derived from their stated objectives

Sixth: Save the entered data. You can choose to save the request temporarily for later review, or save and submit it directly to the CCD for review and verification.

Seventh: After saving and submitting the request, you'll receive a message by phone or email with your request number, followed by a further message indicating the application's status:

1. Under review — the application is being examined.
2. Awaiting data amendment — there are notes you need to address; these can be viewed by opening the request and selecting the "View" tab.
3. Awaiting approvals — relevant authorities, such as the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Works, need to be contacted electronically.
4. Completed, awaiting signature — registration is finalized at CCD headquarters in Amman or one of its branches (depending on the company's head office), either by signing in person before the responsible officer, or by submitting an application signed by a practicing lawyer or a notary public.
5. Awaiting fee payment — fees can be paid electronically or through the eFAWATEERcom platform.

Eighth: Once the fees are paid, the application is finalized, and a text message is sent containing the company's national number, along with a username and password for the company's account.

General Provisions and Notes

• Registration applications for public shareholding companies — including all required attachments and data — must be submitted in paper form directly to the Registration Directorate.
• The company's articles of association submitted to the relevant official authority must be signed by a licensed lawyer registered with the Bar Association, in accordance with applicable law.
